Transcript: Academic Probation The Fullerton College Counseling Services is designed to assists new and returning students in taking the right classes and preparing a Student Educational Plan. (SEP) The counseling building is located at 321 E Chapman Ave. 2000 Building, 2nd Floor. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with a counselor in order to develop a SEP. Appointments during non-register periods have to be made by calling and during registration periods all assistance is on a first come first serve bases, and the wait time will vary. A student who has enrolled in a total of 12 semester units and the student recieves grades of "W," "I," or "NP" in a total of 50% or more of all units enrolled. My Gateway is a multi-purpose web portal for students in the North Orange County Community College District, where students are able to enroll in classes, view grades, drop classes, and view unofficial transcripts. My Gateway is a very important key to the counseling center because this is where students register for classes. A student who has attempted at least 12 semester units and the student has earned a grade point average below 2.0. The counseling center also provides counseling online, which is a web based email service through the FJC website. This gives students a chance to ask general questions, but it is not meant to replace the individual in-person appointments, but a source for quick questions. The counseling center offers: Assists students on taking the appropriate classes Helps students clarify their academic goals Helps students in preparing a Student Educational Plan (SEP) Resolves concerns about life management issues Provides info on college polices Orientation/Group advising Info on General education, transfer, and major preparation requirements Walk- in general information counseling Provides students with unofficial progress checks for transfer requirements and associate degrees Making an Appointment The purpose is to ensure that students are making progress towards their educational goal, and when this does not happen a student can be placed on probation to alert the student and students counselor if additional services are needed.
