Understanding the Bible (Hermeneutics) SUMMARY Have you ever wondered why there are so many different views of Scripture? The reason for that is based on how people interpret God’s Word. This class will introduce the basic principles of Biblical interpretation to help you strengthen your Bible study and your love for God as you understand the meaning and significance of His word. OBJECTIVES Explain the role of the author, text, and reader in the interpretive process. Display competence in determining the meaning of a text. Develop the main idea of a text and develop a sermon/teaching outline. 2. Christian Theology SUMMARY What is Christianity about? Find the answer to this question and more as you learn about doctrines of the faith. This class will equip you with a greater understanding of your faith so that you can think through these topics for yourself and be able answer others when they ask, “What do you believe?” OBJECTIVES A comprehensive study of the major doctrines of the Christian faith from the point of view of those within the Christian church. An examination of the doctrines of revelation, God, creation, providence, humanity, sin, Christ, salvation, Spirit, church, and end times. Relate theological concepts to one's personal spiritual formation. 3. Great Commission Studies SUMMARY One of the top reasons why believers in Jesus do not like to share the gospel is because of fear. That fear can manifest itself in a number of things—rejection, or not knowing what to say, or not saying the right thing. This class will help you build a desire to share your faith in Jesus creatively from a Biblical foundation. OBJECTIVES Relate biblically, theologically and practically to the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Special attention is given to contemporary methods of doing missions and evangelism. Demonstrate knowledge of the definition, theology, and history of missions and evangelism. Old Testament SUMMARY How do you go about studying, teaching or preaching the Old Testament while remaining consistent with God’s will and intended meaning? These questions and more will be answered in this class as you study along with Dr. Moseley. OBJECTIVES Discuss the significance of the Old Testament in relation to redemptive history, which culminated in Jesus Christ. Recall the contents of the first 10 books of the Old Testament and describe the major issues related to each book. Identify attributes of God in the story of His initial relationships with humanity, and develop a disposition and lifestyle consistent with God’s character and calling. 5. New Testament SUMMARY How should we live as followers of The Way? This course will look at the scope of the New Testament and give you a greater understanding of the flow of the Gospels, Writings, Pauline Epistles, and Revelation. OBJECTIVES Implement the most important principles for the interpretation of the major genres of the New Testament: historical narrative, parable, epistle, and apocalypse (Revelation). Learn about the Second Temple period, the New Testament world, and the content of the New Testament. Gain knowledge in foundational studies such as inspiration, canonicity, preservation, and reliability of the New Testament. 6. Historical Theology SUMMARY This course will help you to understand some of the central Christian doctrines taught in our churches and how they were formed during times of persecution and
