It is a commonly used thermal storage wall. A thermal storage wall is constructed of a good heat-absorbing material such as masonry, concrete or water-filled cylinder. A Trombe wall is a large dark painted masonry or concrete wall a few inches from south-facing glass with vents at the top and bottom of the wall. The sun heats the air between the wall and glass. Trombe wall also cools the house during the summer. Air rises between the Trombe wall and glass then escapes to the outside through vents.
